Privacy Policy

Atrium is a desktop app that personalizes the sound on your computer. Two principles guide everything here: your audio is never recorded, and your data is used for exactly one thing, tuning your sound.
The short version
- Your audio is never recorded or uploaded. Atrium shapes what your computer plays in real time, on your device. Nothing is captured, saved, or sent.
- Atrium uses accounts. You sign in with an email and password, or with Google, to use the app.
- Your settings sync to your account. Your hearing profile, EQ, presets and rooms follow you between computers. They are used for nothing else, and deleting your account deletes them.
- No ads, tracking, or analytics inside the app. We do not watch how you use it.
What Atrium processes
To do its job, Atrium reads the audio your computer is playing, applies your personalized equalization and spatial processing, and plays the result to your headphones. This happens entirely in memory, in real time. No audio is ever written to disk, recorded, or sent over a network.
Atrium does derive a numeric summary of a song's tonal balance from that audio. See Song measurements below for exactly what that is and where it goes.
What Atrium stores
On your device: your hearing-assessment results, sound preferences, headphone selection, equalizer settings, saved presets and rooms, and app settings live in Atrium's local storage. Your audio-device choices (which cable, which output) stay only on that PC.
In your account: a copy of those same settings, so signing in on another computer restores your setup. It is stored as one settings record that is replaced when your settings change, is never used for anything except restoring your setup, and is deleted with your account. Signing out resets that PC to defaults; your account's copy stays safe.
You can erase the on-device data at any time from Settings → Privacy → Delete all data, or by uninstalling the app.
Song measurements
Atrium measures the frequency balance of what you play, so it can gently even out mastering problems without stripping a record's character. That measurement is a 31-band summary of the tonal balance, plus tempo, an energy estimate and the track's title, artist and album. It is not a recording, and audio itself is never captured, written to disk, or uploaded. You cannot reconstruct a song from it any more than you could from a graphic-equalizer display.
Measuring happens on your device and stays there by default. Contributing those measurements to Atrium's shared song library is a separate opt-in, off unless you turn it on in Personalization → Playback options → Contribute measurements. Turn it off and nothing further is sent.
If you do contribute, a measurement is only ever served back to anyone as an average across at least three different listeners. A song measured by fewer people is never returned, so a request cannot reveal what any one person played. Your contributions are deleted with your account.
Hearing & health data
Atrium's tests measure aspects of your hearing to tune your sound. These results sync with your account only so your tuning can follow you, and are never sold, shared, or used for anything else. Atrium is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice or diagnosis. If you have concerns about your hearing or tinnitus, please consult a qualified audiologist.
Accounts and purchases
Using Atrium requires an account. For an account we store your email address and a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), or your Google account id if you sign in with Google (Google shares your name and email with us), plus your signed-in devices. Subscribers also have a Stripe customer id. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Password-reset and account emails are delivered by our email provider and your address is used for nothing else. You can delete your account at any time from the account page; that deletes your account data including your synced settings. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription (manage that in the billing portal) and does not touch anything stored on your PC.
Third parties
Atrium does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs inside the app. The third parties involved are Stripe (payments and subscription billing), our email provider (delivering password-reset and account emails), and Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
The website
atriumaudio.net counts downloads anonymously: the date, the country (from the CDN), and the page you came from. There are no ad trackers and no tracking cookies.
Children
Atrium is a general-audience audio utility and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from children.
